Immortal Soul/Spirit?
The Bible Rejects This False Heathen Doctrine

Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of thy
face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast
thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
Ecclesiastes 3:19-21 For that
which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth
them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so
that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. All go unto one place; all are of the
dust, and all turn to dust again.
Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the
beast that goeth downward to the earth?
Isaiah 51:12 I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass;
Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatsoever thy
hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor
knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
Psalm 115:17 The dead praise
not YHWH, neither any that go down into silence. [the grave]
Psalm 144:3-4 YHWH, what is man, that thou takest
knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him! Man is
like a breath: his days are as a shadow that passeth away.
Psalm 6:5 For in death there is
no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?
Psalm 146:4 His breath goeth
forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.
Isaiah 38:18 For the grave
cannot praise thee, death can not celebrate thee: they that go down into
the pit cannot hope for thy truth.
Hebrews 11:13 These all died
in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar
off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they
were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. [not in heaven for those three days and three nights but rather DEAD in the TOMB/GRAVE]
Acts 2:29, 34-35 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto
you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and
his sepulchre is with us unto this day...For David is not ascended
into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit
thou on my right hand, until I make thy foes thy footstool.
John 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. [no one except the Son who was God before he became a man, whose residence is in heaven]
Proverbs 30:4 Who has ascended into heaven and descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has wrapped the waters in His garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name or His son's name? Surely you know!
2 Corinthians 4:11 For we which
live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of
Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.
2 Timothy 6:14-16 That thou keep
this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus
Christ: Which in his times he shall
shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of
lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no
man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour
and power everlasting. Amen. [the ONLY human ever lived that has immortality so
far--the one Who was God the Son before coming to Earth, the firstborn from the
dead—Revelation 1:5, Colossians 1:18]
2 Corinthians 5:4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
I Corinthians 15:53-54 For this corruptible must put on
incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have
put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then
shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in
victory. [And that “when” is at the seventh trumpet, NOT at death]
Romans 8:11 But if
the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised
up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies
by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Mark 12:25 For when
they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are
given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven. [The bible
teaches that at the seventh trumpet there is a resurrection, not false
heathen immortal soul doctrine.]
Acts 17:32-33 And when they
heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We
will hear thee again of this matter. So
Paul went out of their midst.
Acts 4:2 Being grieved that they taught the people,
and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
Matthew 22:31-32 But as touching
the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken
unto you by God, saying,I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the
God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
Luke30:34-36 And Jesus answering
said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in
marriage: But they which shall be
accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead,
neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels [in
that they don't marry]; and are the children of God, being the children of
the resurrection.
John 5:29 And shall come forth;
they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that
have done evil, unto the resurrection of judgment.
Philippians 3:20-21For our
conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord
Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be
fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is
able even to subdue all things unto himself.
Job 14:14 If a man die, shall he
live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my
change come. [Job obviously didn’t believe his
spirit could function after death w/o a body and knew he would have to wait in
the grave until the resurrection.]
I Corinthians 15:35-57 But some
man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do
they come? Thou fool, that which thou
sowest is not quickened, except it die:
And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but
bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain: But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased
him, and to every seed his own body.
All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men,
another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. There are also celestial bodies, and bodies
terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the
terrestrial is another. There is one
glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the
stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. So also is the resurrection
of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in
glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There
is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul;
the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is
natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord
from heaven. As is the earthy, such are
they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are
heavenly. And as we have borne the
image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Now this I
say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither
doth corruption inherit incorruption.
Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we
shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the
last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised
incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must
put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall
have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is
written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O
grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin
is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord
Jesus Christ.
Luke 24:7 Saying, The Son of man
must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the
third day rise again.
I Corinthians 15:3 For I
delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ
died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried,
and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Psalm 71:20 Thou, which hast
shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring
me up again from the depths of the earth.
Daniel 12:2 And many of them
that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to
everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
I Thessalonians 4:14-17 For if
we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also
which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto
you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming
of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord
himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the
archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall
rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together
with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be
with the Lord.
Revelation 11:15 And the seventh
angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms
of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he
shall reign for ever and ever.
Revelation 20:4-6 ..and they lived and reigned with Christ a
thousand years...This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first
resurrection: on such the
second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of
Christ and shall reign with him a thousand years.
So, immortality/eternal life is
given at a resurrection. Are the wicked
given eternal life/immortality so that they can burn immortally forever?
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin
is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ
our Lord.
Isaiah 26:13-14 O LORD our God, other lords beside thee have had dominion over us: but by thee only will we make mention of thy name. They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish. [The second death is a FINAL death, where the spirit is also destroyed. Once the spirit is destroyed, there’s no hope of any other resurrection. It’s like our DNA—our code—that God takes back when we die, and He uses that to resurrect us. Those who die the second death will be destroyed forever. It’s not an immortal spirit. See Matthew 10:28 for further proof.]
Psalm 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell [Hebrew Sheol-grave], and all the nations that forget God.
Psalm 68:2 As smoke is driven away, so drive
them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence
of God.
Exodus 33:20 And he said, Thou canst not see my
face: for there shall no man see me, and live.
(Compare previous two verses to Revelation 22:4 “And they shall see his
face; and his name shall be in their foreheads” and I John 3:2 “Beloved, now are we the sons of
God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he
shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”)
Psalm 21:8-9 Thine hand shall find out all thine
enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee. Thou shalt make
them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the LORD shall swallow them up
in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.
Isaiah 1:28 And the destruction of the
transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake YHWH
shall be consumed.
Malachi 4:1 For, behold, the day cometh, that
shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall
be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the
LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
Revelation 20:14-15 And death and hell were cast
into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And
whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of
fire.
Revelation 21:8 But the fearful,
and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and
sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which
burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Revelation 20:10 (look it up and read it) is used to try to "prove" people are tormented forever in fire. But, as can be seen in the King James version of the bible, the word "are" is in italic, meaning it's not in the original language. Past tense could just as easily go there, like "were cast." The rest of the verse is talking of Satan, who is a spirit being. Revelation 14:11 is also used to try to prove that people are tormented forever. But, it simply does NOT say this. Read it for what it SAYS. It says, "And the SMOKE of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever." Simple enough. Remember the rules for prepositions. It's the noun BEFORE the preposition which receives the action. The SMOKE ascends forever...not the torment.
So, if the bible doesn't teach that we have some "immortal soul," then why do most who call themselves Christians believe this? The "immortal soul" doctrine is a heathen (pagan) doctrine, believed in all the heathen religions, and Catholicism adopted it, along with all the other heathen beliefs and practices. As a matter of fact, the very first lie Satan is recorded to have told a human was, "Ye shall not surely die" (Gen. 3:4). People have believed it ever since. The Hebrew word for soul is "nephesh," and in Gen. 2:7, when God formed Adam of the dust and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, it says, .."and man BECAME a living soul [nephesh]." Nephesh literally means "a breathing creature," and it applies to both man and animals. We ARE living souls, as long as we have breath. When we stop breathing, we're no longer living souls. Again, we ARE souls, not have souls. We ARE breathing creatures, and when we stop breathing, we are no longer souls, and our bodies return to the dust like the other animals, just as the bible says in Ecc. 3:19-20. There is no person who has lived on this planet who has gone into the heavens where God is. Go back and read the scriptures again that I gave. Look them up in your own bible. Read the context.
Some will say, "What about Elijah?" "What about Enoch?" They were both translated. That's another word for transferred. They were relocated to a different region on the earth. They would have been transported by God's vehicles ("horses" and "chariots") still within this atmosphere. We call the area where the clouds are and where the birds fly "heaven," but it's still in our atmosphere and different from where God dwells. The book of Hebrews confirms that Enoch DIED. Elijah also died.
